Untitled (Vacuum Harvestor), 2020
My preoccupation with notions of place and meaning formed during a rural upbringing. It was characterized by open spaces and utility buildings, both dedicated to the production of commodities. In this ongoing undertaking I return to the agricultural setting of my adolescence to reexamine rural work. I find the milieu of my youth intact - overtly mechanical, physically demanding, and distinguished by a collage of informal architecture that springs up in stages on an as-needed basis.  Continuously evolving and germinating a distinct iconography set within its broad landscape, I encounter rural work as a potent, textured experience.  It offers its participants the possibility of a full-bodied narrative profoundly different than urban or suburban realms.
